Dunn Edwards Partnership

Beautify Earth is thrilled to partner with Dunn-Edwards Paints as they announce their 2018 Color of the Year, The Green Hour, a dark grayed blue-green, or teal green with a hint of twilight. In the spirit of the green hour, Dunn-Edwards Paints is donating 10 percent of sales of paint tinted in The Green Hour to Beautify Earth.

Led by Beautify Earth Team Member Ruben Rojas, proceeds will be applied to our programs to put an end to blighted walls and communities all over the world by empowering artists, encouraging social responsibility and instilling community pride. Dunn-Edwards will be providing paint for numerous community beautification projects throughout the Southwest.

The color name comes from the custom of drinking absinthe in Paris bars, bistros and cafes in the 1860s. The hour of 5 p.m. was called l’heure verte, or the green hour. Artists like Van Gaugh, Degas, Manet and Gaugin were regulars at the green hour, along with writers and other creative types.
